Walking Tour in New Delhi

Continuing through the narrow lanes of Old Delhi, you will arrive at Naughara, a hidden alley lined with nine well-preserved Jain havelis. These 18th-century houses showcase intricate carvings and colorful facades, reflecting the architectural style of that period. At the end of the alley stands a Jain temple, still active today, where devotees gather for prayer and rituals. Walking further, you will navigate through streets filled with small workshops and food stalls, each representing centuries-old trades and traditions.

The walk leads to Khari Baoli, Asia’s largest spice market, in operation since the 17th century. Here, traders deal in spices, dried fruits, and herbs sourced from across India and beyond. The scent of chili, turmeric, and cardamom fills the air as workers transport large sacks of goods through the congested alleyways. Many of the surrounding buildings house spice merchants who have been in business for generations, continuing Delhi’s long history as a center of trade and commerce.
